Our Story

L & B's Treats N Sweets began as a labor of love for my two dogs, Layla and Buddy. Layla, my 3-year-old mix of 16 breeds, lives with a lifelong disease called Addison’s. Thankfully, as long as her levels stay stable, she doesn’t require weekly medications to lead a normal, happy life. Then there’s Buddy, my sweet 85-pound, 1.5-year-old American Bully. We rescued him after someone was about to surrender him to the pound. I told them to bring him over, and if he got along with Layla, we’d keep him. Sure enough, as soon as they started playing, Buddy found his forever home with us. He immediately bonded with Layla and became her constant companion.

One day, Buddy wasn’t himself. He stopped eating, drinking, and even lying down—it was as if he was running out of time. For the first time in over a year, he left Layla’s side, and we feared it was for good. Thankfully, we found an amazing vet who refused to give up on him. After a weekend in critical care, he underwent surgery to correct two twists in his intestine, which required removing 3.5 feet of it. Buddy came home to recover, with Layla by his side, helping him every step of the way.

Just when we thought the worst was behind us, Buddy showed the same symptoms two months later. This time, we acted quickly, and another major surgery revealed severe pancreatitis and another intestinal twist. Fortunately, his intestine was saved. Despite extensive testing, his doctors couldn’t pinpoint the cause, theorizing it was a congenital defect. It was clear Buddy needed a specialized diet to stay healthy. Working with his veterinary team, we developed a plan: prescription food, medication for flare-ups, and absolutely no people food or traditional dog treats.

Determined to give Buddy a happy life, I started exploring homemade dog treat recipes. I carefully selected options with minimal, safe ingredients and got the vet’s approval. To my joy, both Layla and Buddy could enjoy these treats without harming their health. Knowing these recipes worked so well for my dogs inspired me to share them with other pet owners. That’s how L & B's Treats N Sweets was born, named after my two beloved pups.

Our treats are made with natural, high-quality ingredients—no dyes, no additives, just wholesome goodness. We go the extra mile to ensure every treat we make is something we’d confidently give to our own dogs. Over time, we plan to expand with new flavors, fun shapes, and holiday-inspired packaging because every dog deserves a treat that’s both delicious and good for them.
